5. The X-Division is Showcased to Start the Show

Matt Sydal and Sonjay Dutt battle in a showcase of the X-Division.  These are two of the X-Divisions finest going at it.  At Bound for Glory, Dutt and Sydal battled in a five way for the championship and now it has broken off to them.  Josh Matthews mentions yoga as being a catalyst for Sydal’s agility and flexibility.

This match was constantly shifting back and forth.  The athleticism by both men was ridiculous as late in the match both men battled on the top turnbuckle.  With every huge move, it seemed like this match was at a stalemate with neither competitor able to take advantage.  This was an excellent way to start the show and show what the X-Division has to offer.  The injured leg of Dutt allows Sydal to be victorious in this match.  With a match this competitive, one has to wonder if it has championship implications.

The best part about the X-Division is that is almost functions as a throwback.  Currently, it serves as a flashback to the original cruiserweight division.  It has the technical wrestling while also having the high flying that wrestling fans enjoy currently.  As Impact Wrestling fans, I think everyone just wants more depth within the division.

After the match, Ethan Carter III came out with some words for Matt Sydal.  He congratulates Matt Sydal sarcastically claiming that he chokes in the big moments.  Carter brings up Sydal’s records in title matches since coming to Impact Wrestling.  He leaves him in the middle of the ring after suggesting that he was reborn a loser.
