4. Eddie Edwards Defends the GHC Championship for the first time in North America

Eddie Edwards battles El Hijo de Fantasma for the GHC Championship.  It was contested under AAA rules with the only notable difference being that a 20 will be enforced.  This match was fast paced from the start and it was interesting to see how Fantasma will use his power edge.  On cue, Fantasma starts to use his power to work the back of Edwards.

Edwards shows some power of his own as he tries to end it with the blue thunder bomb.  The offense didn’t last long as Fantasma turns up the aggression.  Like the previous match, no one had a clear advantage in this one either.  The two even traded suicide dives making use of the 20 count in this match.  Not even the Tiger Driver could end this as Fantasma continued to fight for this prestigious championship.  Both men continued to fight but Eddie Edwards would retain with the Boston Knee Party and the Die Hard Flowsion as homage.

This match was promoted practically like a main event.  It has official introductions before the match.  Also, it somewhat furthered the AAA vs Impact Wrestling storyline.  This is not the only time that the GHC Championship has been defended during an Impact broadcast.  Edwards put on a barn burner with Naomichi Marufuji a few weeks ago in Japan.
