Mickie James vs. Dana Brooke vs. Bayley

Result: Bayley pinned Mickie James to win the match

Rating: 3.0 out of 5 stars

Some interesting work at the beginning of the match, with a three-way test of strength type grapple. I’ve probably seen it somewhere before, but it’s not coming to me, so as far as I’m concerned it’s new. Lots of good WWE-style triple threat work (you know, two superstars wrestling while the third bides their time, waiting for a perfectly timed distraction/interference).

A lot of the match happened in the commercial break, but there was more than enough here to make it a really good match. Namely, Asuka at ringside. Dana Brooke was hanging in there for a while, but after a double facebuster with Mickie, Dana rolled out to the floor to recover. And that’s where her night took a turn for the worst.

Yes, you’re seeing that correctly. Asuka went to check on Dana, who responded by throwing the first punch. Oh, Dana, that was a bad idea. Asuka, as would be expected, lost it and chased Dana down, kicking her head clean off and leaving Dana down for the count.

With Dana incapacitated, Mickie and Bayley were left alone in the ring. Mickie had been in control for much of the match, but once Dana went down Bayley took over. A Bayley to Belly later, and The Hugger is headed to Survivor Series.

It was the result most probably would have expected. And while the match was pretty good, I don’t know if the reveal of Bayley being the final member really needed to be drawn out another week like this.
