NXT Women’s Championship: Peyton Royce vs Kairi Sane vs Ember Moon vs Nikki Cross

No matter what happens in this match Saturday night, one this is for certain. The winner of this match will have bestowed upon them a massive honor. Due to Asuka’s dominating 510 day reign with this belt, the title has been elevated so high that there’s an argument that can be made that it’s the most important women’s title in the company right now. As such, this match should be outstanding and whoever walks out victorious will have undoubtedly earned their spot.

So any time there’s a match with more than three superstars in it, the best way to try and predict a winner is to first rule out who one might believe will not win. And on that subject, let’s start with Sane. I know, that sounds a bit crazy, but hear me out. “The Pirate Princess” has been on a ridiculous run since entering NXT beginning with her victory at The Mae Young Classic. Since then she has continued her unbeaten streak with key wins over Billie Kay and Bianca Belair. It’s almost too obvious that Sane wins here and don’t rule out some interference from fellow Mae Young finalist Shayna Baszler.

What about Royce? Well, as much as she’s grown in the past year, the 25 year-old Aussie doesn’t seem quite ready for this role. Also, throw in that leading up to Saturday night, she’s won four consecutive fatal 4-way matches in the same grouping on house shows. Seems like a smoke-screen.

That leaves us with Cross and Moon. Moon seems like the logical choice due to her two ever so close to losses to Asuka at TakeOver’s Orlando and Brooklyn III. On the other side, Cross is the clear wild card here. She’s been outstanding in her role in NXT both as a singles competitor and a member of SAnitY and has a real shot at taking the strap Saturday. However, Moon has earned this spot and NXT has proven in the past that if you deserve something, you usually get it. Moon wins and hopefully sets up a scintillating one on one feud with Cross that will culminate during Royal Rumble weekend.

Winner and new champion: Ember Moon
