WWE NXT WarGames is tonight, so here’s a refresher on what happened during the go-home show.

We are mere hours away from NXT: Takeover: WarGames in Houston and it’s shaping up to be, arguably, the best outing yet for WWE’s sensational third brand.

With the WarGames match returning for the first time in 19 years, all eyes will be on The Undisputed Era, SAnitY, and The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong, as all three teams prepare to go to war in the main event.

But before all of that, we hit the final stop on the road to WarGames with the go-home edition of WWE NXT. Overall, this was a relatively tame show, aimed primarily at being a transition to the big event. Without further ado, here are four takeaways from the 11/15 go-home edition of WWE NXT.

A Turning Point For The NXT Tag Team Division

WWE NXT opened this week with a tag team contest featuring the Street Profits taking on Riddick Moss and Tino Sabbatelli. I had a fundamental issue with this, not because it was a bad match, but because it was alarmingly pedestrian. Neither team drew much of a reaction from the NXT faithful, which says a lot considering how diehard the Full Sail crowds tend to be.

This was a quick and basic tag team match that ended in abrupt fashion with the Street Profits picking up a win after a stiff right hand from Dawkins to Sabbatelli. My major gripe here is that this doesn’t exactly get anybody pumped up about the future of the tag team division in NXT.

The Street Profits look and act like a 2017 college fraternity version of Men on a Mission and Moss and Sabbatelli, who both come across like low budget Million Dollar Man knock offs, don’t seem comfortable or committed to whatever their characters are supposed to be. This is concerning because two of the three teams competing in WarGames seem more than ready for main roster call ups. Should SAnitY and/or The Authors of Pain get the call, it could leave the NXT Tag Team division a bit thin.

With Heavy Machinery on the rise and TM 61 approaching a comeback, this is far from a dire situation. TM 61 are in the same kind of situation as Moss and Sabbatelli. The team formerly known as The Mighty Don’t Kneel has struggled to find long term success or consistency since debuting in NXT and they are still lacking in terms of character development and personality.

With nine elite competitors main eventing WarGames in what is sure to be a tag team spectacle, the rest of the division should watch closely. If either AOP or SAnitY get the call up to the main roster, the race will be on to see who can take their place.
