United States Championship: Baron Corbin (c) vs Bobby Roode
This one just makes a lot of sense. Corbin is a pure heel, no doubt it . And as such, he’ll need a strong baby face to feud with next. He’s already dispatched three other baby faces in the form of AJ Styles, Tye Dillinger, and Sin Cara, now it’s time to move on. The other “good guys” that are available on the blue brand would be Mojo Rawley or Zack Ryder. Yeah, no thanks on both accounts. That leaves Roode, but not only is he really the only person available, he’s the perfect pairing for “The LoneWolf”. Fresh off his abysmal feud with Dolph Ziggler, “The Glorious One” needs an important program. What better way than to throw him in the mix for the U.S title?
Roode and Corbin are perfect for each other. The champion, a brash, dismissive, first-time titlist against the supremely confident, heavily accomplished veteran could be exactly what both superstars need right now. They both have something to gain. For Roode, it woulds be his first championship as a member of the main roster and for Corbin, he’d get the chance to knock off another big name and add it to his growing resume.
A feud like this could have a lot of legs. Heck, it could easily last until Wrestlemania where Roode could finally get the pay off which would cap off an impressive six month reign as champion for Corbin. Everybody wins. And being that Corbin was one of the guys who got the job done at Survivor Series, he could make Roode prove he belongs in the ring with him while Bobby could remind the champ of who he is and what he’s done. There’s a lot of ways to go with a story line like this. WWE, make it happen.
