SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair (c) vs Natalya
This is another obvious one. “The Queen” bested Natalya on the November 14th SmackDown Live marking her sixth time with a main roster title. And with Survivor Series just five days after that win, it swapped Charlotte and Nattie for a match with Alexa Bliss and the elimination match, respectively. So unless Natalya invokes her rematch clause before Clash of the Champions, this is a no brainer, albeit not the most exciting one.
The blue brand is in serious need of some change in the women’s division. Outside of Nattie, there really isn’t a female that has any momentum or even remotely deserving of a title shot currently. Becky Lynch has been trending downwards lately, capped off by a barely two minute performance at Survivor Series before being eliminated via roll-up. Tamina and Naomi have had even less momentum than that of late, and Carmella owns the Money In The Bank briefcase. No reason for her, as a heel, to win it fair and square. And believe it or not, that’s about it.
So that’s why it was pretty shocking for Paige to make her return on RAW on Monday night as opposed to SmackDown. And not only did she go to the red brand, she brought two cohorts in Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose with her. Tuesday nights are going to need something like that as well. A Billie Kay/Peyton Royce call up could be fun. What about Nikki Cross? And if the company feels that nobody else is ready, a Becky Lynch heel turn could be a lot of fun. Her heel work in NXT was always outstanding.
But in the meantime, we’ll get this rematch in Boston. It’ll most likely be solid just like most of their other encounters, but after it’s over, it’s time to infuse a little bit of life into a scuffling division.
