WWE Championship Match: AJ Styles (c) vs Jinder Mahal
This is one of the other obvious ones. On the November 7th episode of SmackDown Live, AJ Styles recaptured the WWE Championship from Jinder Mahal ending the abysmal and painfully boring six month title reign of “The Maharaja”. It was a relief to see Styles win the belt again not only because it ended Mahal’s run, but it set Styles on a collision course to meet Brock Lesnar in a dream match at Survivor Series. What was originally set to be a horrific, on paper at least, match between Mahal and Lesnar turned into a terrific slug-fest between Styles and “The Beast” Sunday that saw AJ come up just short.
So since Mahal has yet to receive his rematch, and the fact that the WWE wants to continue to torture it’s fans by leaving him the title picture, it’s almost certain that this rematch will take place at Clash of the Champions. Hopefully this will all just be a formality as Styles will most likely have big business on the horizon. With Wrestlemania 34 looming, and being that “The Phenomenal One” is the best in-ring worker in the company, he deserves a championship match at the biggest show of the year. It could and should be Shinsuke Nakamura as his opponent but considering how he’s been booked recently, including a couple of losses to Mahal on pay per view, that idea is beginning to seem far-fetched.

One way or the other Styles needs to go to Mania as champion regardless of who he faces. When it comes to Wrestlemania, the company should produce their best as far as talent goes in their world title matches and Styles fits that bill. Expect Styles to finish off Mahal at The Clash and send him back to the mid-card where he belongs.
