Shane McMahon Opens The Show
The WWE decided not to beat around the bush, so, as expected, Shane McMahon came out to open the show to explain what happened at Survivor Series. The commentary team immediately started talking about how Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn involved themselves, and they seemed to absolve Shane of any of the blame. So yeah, predictable stuff coming?
Shane starts blowing smoke about how SmackDown is “THE show” in the WWE. Look, I agree with him, but, uh, y’all lost, and y’all fell hard in the main event. He calls out Owens and Zayn, and the faces of SmackDown Live trot out.
Owens and Zayn absolutely blast Shane for leaving them off of the Survivor Series team. Then, Owens calls out the New Day and says that he and Zayn could have beaten the Shield or even all five members of Raw in a handicap match. He adds an exclamation point by saying that either of them could defeat Brock Lesnar, stating that Shane should apologize for leaving both off. So, uh, yeah it’s going to be a night of delusion in SmackDown.
Shane retorts by stating that neither Owens nor Zayn have respect for anyone, and Zayn promptly agrees with him. Worried that Shane will fire him, Owens says that he can’t fire them because they are revered by everyone in the locker room and in the industry. Zayn says that the two of them are future WWE Hall of Famers (he ain’t wrong!). Owens furthers this by saying that he and Zayn are the top two wrestlers in WWE.
Before Shane is about to say, “You’re fired!”, Daniel Bryan interrupts him. Bryan decides to put the two of them in a match with The New Day, and Zayn protests due to the disadvantage in numbers. Bryan says the match will be a Lumberjack tag match.
