Jey Uso vs. Shelton Benjamin

Result: Shelton Benjamin wins via pinfall after “Paydirt”

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

These two tag teams have been feuding for a few weeks now, and it feels like a double-turn took place. We’ve seen more of an aggressive side from both Jey Uso and Shelton Benjamin, while The Usos have been real team players for SmackDown Live. They gave The New Day words of encouragement after their loss to the Shield, and they showed a lot of passion during their win over The Bar at Survivor Series.

So that’s why I get the feeling that The Usos are babyfaces now, and the crowd is clearly behind them, especially now that they are widely recognized as the best tag team in WWE. In this match, Jey seemed to be acting more like the face, and a sick knee from the top rope delivered by Benjamin, as well as the “Gold Standard’s” facials, seemed to confirm this change in alignment.

When Jey tried to make a dive to the outside, Chad Gable stood on the apron to prevent the move. Another big spot happened shortly after as Benjamin tried to steal a win with a roll-up, but Jey kicked out and hit him with a superkick. Benjamin kicked out for a close nearfall, Gable tried to interfere, but Jey climbed up to the top rope for a “splash”. However, Benjamin moved out of the way and hit his finisher for the win.
