4. Hakim Zayn looks to Earn His Stripes against Ishimori
Hakim Zayn was the winner of Global Forged; a short version of Tough Enough in Impact. Fans are unsure of who exactly Zayn is. He has his work cut out for him against Taiji Ishimori who is a former GHC Light Heavyweight Champion.
The winner of Global Forged came into the this match looking to gain some momentum. He started this match fast and furious. For the most part, he had the majority of the offensive momentum in his favor. Zayn showed an aggression that he needs to be successful and showed that he can compete with one of the best from Japan. Ishimori reversed Zayn’s offense with his gutbuster then ended the match was his signature 450 splash. After the match, Caleb Konley and Trevor Lee leave Ishimori laying in the middle of the ring after attacking him from behind.
Hakim Zayn looked very good in this match. It was an amazing way to showcase what Zayn can do. No one expected him to win but at the same time, I’m not sure if anyone thought he’d look this solid in the match. He had Ishimori on the ropes for a large part of this match but the veteran savvy of the former GHC Light Heavyweight Champion allowed him to fight his way back into the match.
