The Dec. 5 edition of WWE SmackDown saw the berth of a very meaningful match that could greatly affect the course of Tuesday nights forever.

Last night’s WWE SmackDown was centered around the buildup towards the Clash of Champions pay-per-view and the final WWE pay-per-view of 2017 is taking shape.  SmackDown saw some solid action and well-deserved additions to Clash of Champions as well.

The blue brand will be on full display on a pay-per-view for the final time in 2017 and its top storyline got even more significant.  With that being said, let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Dec. 5 edition of SmackDown.

5. The Bludgeon Brothers’ Dominating Ways Go in Reverse

Luke Harper and Erick Rowan have been in the WWE for several years now, beginning as Wyatt family members alongside Bray Wyatt.  But lately, their personas have taken on a new look of sorts with The Bludgeon Brothers.

These two powerful and intense men have dominated their competition in recent weeks to the point where they haven’t had to be on the defense whatsoever.  But last night’s SmackDown saw Harper and Rowan squash a team that wasn’t even on the WWE roster.

The Bludgeon Brothers defeated Adam James and Josh Carr in no time, continuing their dominating ways.  But after two straight weeks of beating and subsequently breaking up The Hype Bros, this feels backward having them squash a no-name tag team.

Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder are two established superstars on SmackDown, so defeating them with ease looks impressive for Harper and Rowan.  But after two straight weeks of that, squashing a team nobody knows doesn’t do much for The Bludgeon Brothers.  They are impressive and have a big future on Tuesday nights, but not by squashing no-names.

Harper and Rowan are forces to be reckoned with for the blue brand, but they should showcase that brute force against teams that are actually on the main roster.
