Matt Sydal Tries to Prove that He Can Win the Big One
This match gets off to a slow start but Sydal turns up the tempo early in the first round. EC3 tries to slow down the pace and it allows him to get back into the match. The high flying style of Matt Sydal costs him as EC3 drops him from the top turnbuckle. As the clock ticks under 30 seconds, Ethan Carter III takes firm control inside and outside of the ring. EC3 is awarded the first round as he took control a little less than halfway through the first round.
Ethan Carter III is the aggressor early in the second round as he tries to pick up where he left off. Sydal uses a striking offense to get back into the match in the second round. His offense doesn’t last as EC3 starts to ground him again in this round. Halfway through the round, Sydal gets back in it and looks to quicken the pace once again. He uses rapid covers on EC3 and showing a more aggressive style than he did in round one. Carter retreats but there’s no running from Matt Sydal with his quickness. Sydal solidifies this round with a round kick and is awarded round two. EC3 hits Sydal with a cheap shot after the round.
Just like round two, EC3 jumps on Matt Sydal again trying to break the tie. Carter going for the power attack as Sydal looks for his signature moonsault. It was a match of compete opposites as Sydal leans toward his aerial attack. EC3 tries to end it with One Percenter with a minute left but it almost costs him. Sydal fights off the superplex attempt and a missed shooting star press leads to a double headbutt with both men down. For the first time, the match ends in a draw and EC3 retains the Grand Championship.
