5. AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon (WrestleMania 33)

What makes this one so special is just how much Styles was able to get out of a father of three, and a non-regular wrestler. That’s not to say McMahon can’t work, mind you. But he’s nowhere near on the same level as Styles from an in-ring standpoint.

Out of all the matches on this list, this is the one with the best buildup. What led up to this showdown between wrestler and commissioner was a series of acts Styles deemed disrespectful. Eventually, Styles hit his breaking point, and shoved McMahon’s head through a car window.

From that point on, the match was official. Some people were hesitant to believe this was a match worthy of a WrestleMania spotlight, but the two men involved proved them wrong.

The match featured fluid action, and told a story of an angry, vengeful McMahon having to step up to the best wrestler in the world. McMahon working in strikes, and Styles saying “are we going to wrestle or fight?” was another great wrinkle in this match.

Despite McMahon being somewhat limited within the ropes, this match exceeded the hype and expectations by 10-fold. McMahon displayed his traditional daredevil antics, missing an elbow drop through the announcers table, as well as a shooting star press during a crucial moment.

Styles capitalized and was able to close the door on his feud with his boss. At the end of the bout, McMahon earned Styles’ respect.

This was also a memorable match because it marked Styles’ first win at WrestleMania.
