WWE Clash Of Champions 2017: Who Should Win The Tag Titles?
By Dalton Quix
Four of Smackdown Live’s top tag teams will battle it out this Sunday at WWE Clash of Champions 2017 for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
Before Survivor Series, Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin defeated The Usos via count out to become the #1 contenders for their belts. However, Benjamin and Gable lost to The New Day which led to The SmackDown Tag Team Championships being defended in a triple threat between these teams at WWE Clash of Champions 2017.
Then, the entire tag division was introduced to Rusev Day. Rusev and Aiden English defeated The New Day to earn a spot in the tag match at Clash of Champions and went on to defeat The Usos on the go home show to build momentum.
So there are four options to walk away from Clash of Champions as SmackDown Tag Team Champions, but my prediction is that the winner will not come as a surprise. Although, all of these teams have been built well and should be in the title picture for the foreseeable future.
The New Day, it seems, are in this match just to get them a place on the card. They have already put on a brilliant and lengthy feud with The Usos that ended a couple months ago, so it wouldn’t make sense for them to win the belts and renew that feud.
As for the recently turned heel team of Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin, I do not think WWE is ready to pull the trigger on them as champions. They are still trying to find their character as heels and their chemistry as a team, too. So, this team could be champs in the future with a little more build, but right now is not the time for this duo.
Now, Rusev and Aiden English are the wild cards in this match. When it was first announced that it was a triple threat for Clash of Champions, I assumed The New Day were just in the match to eat the pin and prolong the feud between The Usos and Gable and Benjamin.

Then, Rusev and Aiden English were thrown into the mix and have been wildly popular as of late due to their comical chemistry and Rusev Day shtick. They also have been built pretty well with a string of wins heading into the PPV, so WWE could pull a fast one on us and give the hot Rusev and English the belts.

However, if we’re talking WWE logic, Rusev and English stood tall on the go home show of Smackdown Live, which usually means they will lose at the upcoming PPV. This is okay because Rusev Day can afford a loss, and this would allow Rusev and English to rotate between singles and tag team competition depending on their booking going forward.
This leaves us with The Usos. They have been the tag division’s MVP as their character work, mic work, and ring work has shined throughout 2017. They have been carrying SmackDown Live and have the tag division on lock.
There is no reason to take the belts off of them with the work they have been doing so far, and they are still hot with some fresh feuds they can still explore. I expect them to come out of Clash of Champions as champs, and then they can continue their feud with Gable and Benjamin.
After that, The Usos can possibly tackle the team of Rusev and Aiden English, and then they can take on the newly formed Bludgeon Brothers, which should be an incredibly match based on the past work The Usos have done with Harper and Rowan.

The Usos have the tag division in SmackDown Live ON LOCK, so come Clash of Champions, no competitor will escape the wrath of the Uso Penitentiary.
