Kickoff Show Singles Match: Mojo Rawley vs Zack Ryder

Well this one’s a no-brainer, right? The company has made it clear, for what ever insane reason, that they like Mojo Rawley. Maybe it’s his charisma, or his microphone abilities, or his look, or maybe they even like that he’s friends with Gronk. But what ever it is, they apparently think the guy has the potential to be a future player. Ryder on the other hand, outside of one half decent run in 2012 and a one day Intercontinental title reign last year,  hasn’t really done much to get himself out of low-card status throughout his decade-plus run with the company.

The favoritism toward Rawley was never more apparent than throughout the last six months as he and Ryder, operating as The Hype Bros., took loss after televised loss on a consistent basis with the recurring theme that Ryder was the one getting pinned. It was familiar tag team narrative as over and over again one guy was proving that he was the weak link and eventually led to the team’s breakup on the November 28th SmackDown when Rawley attacked his now foe.

So this seems pretty academic. The only shot Ryder has of winning this thing is if the WWE wants to move forward with this rivalry and that wouldn’t make much sense. They want Rawley looking as strong as possible heading into Wrestlemania season and his ascent into at least the mid-card will begin Sunday night. Rawley wins and makes it look somewhat easy.

Winner: Mojo Rawley
