SmackDown Women’s Championship Lumberjack Match: Charlotte (c) vs Natalya
It’s been over a month but Natalya will finally get her obligatory women’s title rematch against “The Queen” Sunday night. Charlotte snatched the belt away from Nattie on the November 14th SmackDown, giving her a staggering seventh title win in five years with the company. But this title defense should be a little tricky for Charlotte as the newly debuting trio The Riott Squad will be at ringside along with Lana, Tamina, Carmella, and Naomi as they play lumberjacks. The Riott Squad has done nothing but wreak havoc on the women’s division since their debut on November 21st so this thing should could pretty messy with the Riott, Logan, and Morgan involved.
So there are two things to tackle here. One, obviously is the match. On paper, this looks like a clear cut win for Charlotte. She just won the belt and looks poised for a title program with Riott. But there’s a few problems with that. For one, Riott just got to the main roster. She might not be quite ready.
And then there’s the second part of the puzzle. That whole pesky Money In The Bank briefcase and the person carrying it, Carmella. The time is now for Carmella to cash in and with all the chaos that should be going on around her Sunday night, she may never have a better opportunity.
Here’s how I see it playing out. The Riott Squad takes out Flair giving Natalya the victory. They then lay waste to Natalya as well. Naomi, Tamina, and Lana get back involved and take the trio’s attention away from the ring giving Carmella the perfect chance to cash in, which she does. This makes Charlotte still look strong by getting cheated out of the belt and not having to take a pin from “The Princess of Staten Island” and keeps Natalya in the title picture as a former champ who will need a rematch. And you were all wondering why one side of the lumberjacks outnumbered the other 4-3. Makes perfect sense now.
