8. Drew Gulak: WWE 205 Live

If you thought this slide was going to be about Enzo Amore, shame on you. Because nobody has done a better job of getting themselves over on 205 Live than Drew Gulak, who doesn’t need the Cruiserweight Championship to be the show’s biggest attraction.

After being a run-of-the-mill heel whose style focused on technical wrestling that punished his opponents, Gulak has become a verbose politician, proclaiming that he has a vision to make 205 Live better. Essentially, his vision includes eliminating everything that could possibly make 205 Live more fun (he wants to ban chants, flips, and dives), and yet he is definitively the most fun character on the show.

Gulak is so much more than a goofball with a megaphone who wants a #Drewtopia. The man has layers to his character, and the babyface turn that is being teased looks brilliant. During the final segment of 205 Live in Cincinnati on Dec. 12, Gulak was torn between two sides. He saw that Enzo Amore and Ariya Daivari were going too far in their beating with Tony Nese, but the conflicted superstar ultimately decided to join in on the beating.

There’s no doubt that Gulak is one of WWE’s biggest risers in 2017, and his transformation from a generic character to pseudo-politician is something other WWE superstars should take notice of.
