9. Clash of Champions

The most recent pay-per-view in the WWE came courtesy of the SmackDown brand in Clash of Champions.  While lacking much hype coming in, Clash of Champions did serve up a few matches that were pay-per-view quality.

The event was based around a key tag team match as well as each championship being defended.  The match of the night came via a Triple Threat Match for the United States Championship between Baron Corbin, Bobby Roode, and Dolph Ziggler.  The Fatal 4-Way tag team title match was also stellar as well with The Usos holding onto their titles.

Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn had its moments, but the storylines surrounding the match with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan took precedence over the actual match.  AJ Styles and Jinder Mahal also had a pretty good match for the WWE Championship, although it probably wasn’t as good as their Nov. 7 encounter on SmackDown.

There were some weaker matches, however, such as Breezango vs. The Bludgeon Brothers and Charlotte Flair vs. Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Championship didn’t quite do what it needed to do.  But overall, the pay-per-view was pretty good and did feature some noteworthy moments.

The Clash wasn’t viewed at as much by most of the WWE universe, but it turned out to be a better show than expected by a lot of accounts.
