The final WWE SmackDown of 2017 saw the emergence of several championship threats as the blue brand heads into the new year.

The Dec. 26 edition of WWE SmackDown saw pictures becoming clearer for a few of the championships on Tuesday nights with new threats arising that could change the complexion of the blue brand.

Last night also saw new developments leading into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 28.  SmackDown is building momentum in several ways and as the new year begins, that will be key for the blue brand.  Let’s take a look at five key takeaways from the Dec. 26 edition of WWE SmackDown.

5. Breezango’s Momentum is Beginning to Fade

For the longest time, many wondered if Fandango and Tyler Breeze would ever find a good place in the WWE.  They were both floundering, but in 2017, the duo has had a breakthrough with the Fashion Files segments.

These segments have been some of the funniest and most entertaining moments in the WWE in some time and the two were reaping the benefits from them.  However, as of late, Breezango has not had the same level of success it had in the months prior.

The Fashion Files segments have lessened and even been moved to WWE.com as of late, which really hurts the roots of what made them great to begin with.  But outside of just that, Breezango has been turned into a squash team for The Bludgeon Brothers lately too with a couple recent defeats to Harper and Rowan, including last night’s disqualification loss.

While it’s not realistic to think Breezango could defeat The Bludgeon Brothers, all of these recent developments have helped lessen the duo’s momentum.  Maybe The Ascension can help spruce things up as we’ve seen recently, but something has to start giving to get Breezango back on track.

Fandango and Breeze have a lot of charisma and entertainment value, but the WWE needs to remember that to help save the momentum the duo built up in 2017.
