WWE: Paige Suffers Injury At Live Event, Doing ‘Much Better’

Paige made her triumphant return to WWE programming last month as the leader of the “Absolution” stable, and fans were concerned when she went down with an upper-body injury during a live event on Wednesday.

There’s little doubt that Paige has been one of the most popular wrestlers in the WWE women’s division ever since making her return to the ring, and she hasn’t missed a beat. Excellent on the mic and solid in the ring, Paige is one of the early favorites to win the Royal Rumble, and she’s been front and center of the Raw Women’s Division, as her “Absolution” stable has been a commanding presence on Monday nights.

However, Paige suffered an injury scare last night. At a live event in Uniondale, New York, Paige had her backed turned to Sasha Banks, and thus wasn’t prepared to receive a kick. The match was stopped due to a visible injury, but an early positive sign was that Paige didn’t need to use the stretcher that was brought out for her; she was able to walk under her own power.

Still, it was an upsetting scene, and Banks was visibly concerned for Paige’s health. Paige just returned from a career-threatening neck injury, which made this incident all the scarier for those in attendance and reading about it online. (Hat tip to Cageside Seats for the tweets.)

The good news is that the injury may not be severe. PWInsider.com’s Mike Johnson reports that he hasn’t received word that Paige was sent to a local hospital after being attended to by WWE’s doctors. He adds that “the word backstage” is that Paige suffered a stinger as a result of that aforementioned kick. If true, Johnson expects Paige to be taken off of live events as a precaution, and the language of the report makes it seem like this isn’t a big concern.

Of course, because Paige is returning from a more severe neck injury, this is a situation to monitor closely. On top of that, we still don’t know all the details, so we’ll have to wait for more confirmation from reporters like Johnson.

But for what it’s worth, WWE legend and former Raw GM Mick Foley stated that Paige is doing “much better”.

And for those of you who are blaming Sasha Banks for this, stop it. You are all just as bad as the people calling Seth Rollins an unsafe worker, and your high and mighty criticisms of how “safe” somebody works simply isn’t helping anybody. There. I’ve said my peace on that.
