3. Becky Winning Would Make The Event Feel Special

You only get one chance to make a first impression, as the cliche goes, and the WWE aren’t always the best at making good on their first impressions. Look no further than the first ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match, which fell completely flat and was an absolute embarrassment for many fans. James Ellsworth climbed the ladder to retrieve the briefcase and dropped it to Carmella.

The WWE wouldn’t be stupid enough to make a similar mistake at the first ever women’s Rumble, but the point remains that it’s important for these historic matches to feel important. Fans have no trouble nitpicking either, just as they did when Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair met inside Hell in a Cell in the main event. The match itself was quite good, but fans expected a more satisfying finish and were critical of WWE afterwards.

When Becky won the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Backlash, the victory felt important, it told a story of Becky finally winning a title, and it automatically made the title feel legit.

If Lynch wins the Rumble, the event will also be legitimized, because it will be a big win from a superstar who is respected. People know that Becky is capable of putting on tremendous matches, they know how hard she works, and they’ve seen her battle every week.

Fans root for Becky, and the pop she’d get from a hard-earned Rumble victory could be among the best in WWE. The fans are just waiting for Becky to have a big moment again, and it’s been more than year since we can actually say that something like this has happened for her. It wouldn’t feel out-of-nowhere, and Becky is such a good wrestler that it wouldn’t feel undeserved either.
