WWE Royal Rumble 2018: The Case For Becky Lynch
1. There Are A Lot Of Layers To The Fallout
Also, remember how I mentioned that Becky eliminated Carmella to win her first title at Backlash 2016? And remember how I said that they were feuding over the summer? Well, what if Carmella, who is the first ever Ms. Money in the Bank, cashed in on the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble winner at WrestleMania 34?
That’s just one of the many stories that a Becky Lynch victory at the Royal Rumble would tell. Another is the long-running thread between Charlotte and Becky that began in NXT, carried onto the main roster when Charlotte turned on her, peaked at WrestleMania 32 in a Triple Threat match that Charlotte won to win the new women’s title, and added another layer when Charlotte joined Becky on SmackDown Live.
A third story? Becky finally winning a big match, which, again, hasn’t happened since she won the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Backlash 2016. She’s been cheated out of key victories by heels like Alexa Bliss, Carmella, and Natalya. A Rumble win would officially start her road back to the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and it’s taken far too long for her to return to her path to hoisting the all-important title again.

Becky winning the Rumble would be an awesome, heart-warming moment that adds legitimacy to a key event, makes the crowd happy, and sets up a big match at WrestleMania. But it would be so much more than that, because it would tie together a story and potentially reignite two rivalries.
