WWE WrestleMania 34: 5 Possible Women’s Singles Matches
Asuka vs. Ronda Rousey
WWE fans are split on whether or not they want Ronda Rousey to have a singles match at WrestleMania, let alone to win the Royal Rumble. While it doesn’t seem like Rousey will be at the Rumble, we’ve learned to expect the unexpected in WWE, especially when it comes to the Rumble itself. This may be the most unpredictable time of the year, and that unpredictability is multiplied by ten in the case of the first ever women’s Rumble. After all, it is the first of its kind.
Still, Rousey is a huge name, and she was legitimately a trailblazer in mixed martial arts. She proved that women could be mainstream draws in combat sports, and she’s a total badass. Yes, she fell off as a fighter and wasn’t as well-rounded as many of her competitors in the sport, but she was still very successful in the UFC. You can’t underestimate the kind of credibility she brings both in terms of sport and mainstream publicity.
WWE is all about that, but Rousey isn’t just someone who can give WWE attention from media outlets. She is a real wrestling fan who respects the sport and has been training for it. She already had a WrestleMania segment in the past, so she understands the magnitude of the event.
Rousey vs. Asuka would be a fight between two beasts who can bring punishing strikes and devastating submission holds to the table. Asuka would almost have to win this match, but it would be a lot of fun to watch and would reach a mainstream audience that might also gain some appreciation for what Asuka can do.
