Kenny Omega (C) vs. Chris Jericho

The Alpha versus The Omega.  The two biggest names to come out of Winnipeg.  Kenny Omega has been the hottest commodity in pro wrestling the last two years.  His run in NJPW has been untouchable.  He has had amazing matches with everyone placed in front of him.

Whether it’s his trilogy with Okada or a one-off comedy match with Toru Yano.  Omega has the ability to succeed under any and every circumstance.  Omega shot to prominence due to his creativity in the ring and ability to speak Japanese fluently.  So not only can he dazzle the crowd with his wrestling but he can also talk them into the building.

In a shock to the wrestling world, Chirs Jericho made a surprise return to New Japan Pro Wrestling.  It’s been 20 years since Jericho had any affiliation with NJPW and he made sure to make an impact.  Challenging Omega to a match at Wrestle Kingdom for his United States Championship.

It wasn’t until Jericho actually found his way to Japan and attacked Omega from behind.  The assault would see Omega left bloody and beaten.  The next day at a press conference Omega would exact some revenge and attack Jericho.  A brawl broke out with both men needing to be separated.

Jericho’s involvement in Wrestle Kingdom has brought new eyes and energy to the event that may not have already been there.  The coverage has been huge since the longtime WWE stalwart made his return to the Land of the Rising Sun.  With Omega being the face of the US expansion for NJPW and Jericho’s notoriety, this match will be huge for NJPW.
