5. John Cena

The last time Cena entered the Rumble match at number 30 was in 2008 when he won the whole thing. Cena had missed the previous three months with a torn pectoral muscle, so his return shocked the Madison Square Garden crowd.

Fast-forward to 2018 and the “free agent” has worked a part-time schedule due to his outside projects and the wear and tear that comes with middle age. Even in his prime, Cena was never a Royal Rumble marathon man. In his previous seven Rumble appearances, Cena has entered no earlier than 18th (in 2003, when he was a mid-carder).

Now that Cena’s 40, WWE will likely continue to save him for the late stages of the match. I would be surprised if he came out early; the first half of the match is usually mid-card filler aside from the first two entrants.

Even the possibility of Cena coming out early and clearing the ring of the underlings seems like a stretch (that would be a good spot for several other people on this list). Cena entering at number 30 isn’t out of the question, but it has a “been there done that” feel to it, especially if Cena wins the match. I assume that WWE will save that spot for someone else, but Cena entering last wouldn’t surprise me.
