2. Eli Drake and Alberto El Patron Battle Over the Global Championship
Eli Drake defends his Global Championship against Alberto El Patron at Wrestle Pro in New Jersey. El Patron has control from the first highlight that is shown in the match. Whether it is inside or outside of the ring, El Patron has control early on. El Drake takes control and uses his environment to inflict damage on the challenger.
The fight goes into the stands as El Patron regains control but no control is permanent with the Global Champion. Drake takes control as the fight goes back into the ring but can’t put El Patron away with Gravy Train. Eli Drake goes for the championship belt but is dropped on the belt himself. Drake reverses the cross armbreaker and used his championship to retain his Global Championship while the referee’s back was turned.
Overall, this was a pretty good match but there is something about showing matches from elsewhere. It almost tones down the quality at some points and this match was only clips from the full match. Impact would have benefited more from using the whole match especially considering it is the company’s most prestigious championship.
