18. Breezango
After weeks of losing in quick fashion to the Bludgeon Brothers, the Fashion Police finally got thrown a bone by defeating Rusev Day in a surprising twist. Rusev was slightly distracted, and Fandango took advantage by rolling him up for a three-count that disappointed some fans who are worried about Rusev’s stalling momentum.
Instead of focusing on Rusev, I’d like to say that the out-of-nowhere win from Breezango isn’t such a bad thing. As Daniel Bryan told Shane McMahon, Breezango work their tails off, and the crowd always has such a great reaction to both Tyler Breeze and Fandango. What’s so bad about them getting a big tag team win? I mean, Rusev has lost before, and this won’t affect him as long as the fans stay behind him.
17. Ruby Riott
It’s hard to fear the Riott Squad when Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Naomi seem to have no trouble dominating them. But the Riott Squad’s scare tactics are legit, and they do have power in numbers. There’s also no shame in losing to Becky via the Dis-Arm-Her, and the loss won’t affect Ruby’s momentum in the least.
I’d like to praise Ruby Riott for the backstage promo she cut after the loss. She did an amazing job of selling the arm after the submission loss, but that isn’t a surprise to anyone who has seen her work in NXT, specifically her selling of the ankle in a recent series with Absolution’s Sonya Deville. Riott’s promo felt less scripted, more genuine, and more impactful than the generic one she cut on SmackDown in the previous week.
