Wrestling: Five Possible Dream Matches For 2018
The Elite vs. The New Day
Moving from a traditional tag match to a pair of trios teams. Both units have traded veiled verbal shots and have issued challenges over the past couple of years.
Obviously, all six men are very good workers, but what makes both trios special is their chemistry with their respective partners. Omega and The Young Bucks have arguably been the most popular acts outside of the WWE bubble. Conversely, New Day has made fans forget about their early incarnations as another tired variation of the Nation of Domination and a mindless shuckin’ and jivin’ team and have become one of the most popular gimmicks in the company.
Even if it were just a one-off match, a showdown between these three teams would be a lot of fun. Unfortunately, it probably won’t happen anytime soon for the same reasons that the Bucks/Revival won’t: a lack of availability.
Both groups have achieved great success in their respective promotions and show no signs of slowing down. Omega and The Bucks seem to have some ambitious goals that do not include WWE (running a 10,000 seat wrestling show with Cody, helping NJPW expand westward). New Day also seems to be enjoying their time in WWE, I doubt that they leave anytime soon. That’s a shame because I think that these six guys could have a tremendous trios match.
