WWE: How Finn Balor Should Win A Title With Balor Club
By Jack Clayton
There is no doubt about it, Finn Balor is one of the most talented performers right now on Raw, if not in the entire WWE.
Not only is his in ring work stellar, but he also has one of the best characters in the Demon. While he has only been on the main roster for a year and a half, he has also racked up some impressive achievements as well. Not only was he the first ever Universal Champion, he had one of the best matches of 2017 with AJ Styles at TLC.
Sadly, for most of that year and a half, Balor was on the shelf due to injury, and would have to vacate the title the next night on Raw. What’s even sadder is that since then, he has yet to get his rematch for the title. Part of this is because as of late, Vince McMahon has felt Balor has not been “over enough”. While that was far from the truth, it did feel for a while that he was slipping down the card.
That was of course until on an episode of Raw when a match was made featuring Balor alongside his former Bullet Club members Gallows and Anderson. From there, Balor Club was born, and has given Balor more of the attention he deserves.
Now the question has become how should Balor Club be properly booked? What must happen is to give Balor the title match he has been denied for so long. However, at this point it would not help Balor to put him in a title match with Brock Lesnar, or eventually Roman Reigns. To properly book Balor to win another title, there are a few steps that must be taken.

Superstar Shakeup
Two years ago, the Superstar Shakeup split up WWE talent between Raw and Smackdown. Gallows, Anderson and Balor remained on Raw, with each of them winning gold on the show. Gallows and Anderson won the Raw Tag Team Championships, and Balor was the first ever Universal Champion.
However, perhaps it is time for the trio to hop shows and join the blue brand. There, there are plenty of new titles for each to capture, including the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. And the title just so happens to be held by another former Bullet Club member, AJ Styles.
Therefore, the best decision is to move Balor Club to Smackdown Live, and have Balor win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. There, Gallows and Anderson can even win the Smackdown Live Tag Team Titles.

Best For Business
So why is this what needs to happen? Why not just keep Balor Club on Raw? There are a few reasons why this would work better in terms of WWE’s storytelling. First off, the three members of Balor Club have been a part of Raw since 2016. By this point, it is hard to think of new feuds to involve Balor in. And when it one is feuding for a world title, it is always best to have a feud that feels fresh. By putting Balor Club on SmackDown, that gives the opportunity for new matches and new feuds.
There is also plenty of history between the two. Not only are both known for their work outside of WWE, but they are notable members of the Bullet Club. Using this would allow for an amazing story to be told.
The second reason is because of the two superstar’s talent inside the ring. While character is definitely important for a wrestler, their in-ring abilities are important above all else. Luckily for WWE, both Balor and Styles are two of the best performers going right now. And as seen by their match at TLC, it’s not hard for them to have a good match.

Road to SummerSlam
So the question now is how does WWE book this monumental match? At this point, there’s not enough time to have the match set for WrestleMania. Not only that, but there wouldn’t be enough buildup to it. But that doesn’t mean that they can’t build the feud for SummerSlam.
As mentioned before, what needs to be done is have Balor Club switch over to SmackDown sometime after Mania. From there, they can try to recruit Styles into the Balor Club, and they can establish dominance over SmackDown. Styles will deny, claiming that SmackDown is “house that AJ Styles built”, causing Balor Club to turn against him and turn heel.
From there, the two can feud back and forth throughout the summer, where the final blow comes at SummerSlam. This’ll be the point where the feud is at its peak, and with the WWE Championship on the line. At this point, what happens in the match is up to the two performers, but it’s the finish that matters.
If they want to set up Balor Club as the next big heel faction, that’s what they must do: use them as a faction. Throughout the match, it looks as if Styles will have the upper hand, and is about to win. He goes to hit a Phenomenal Forearm on Balor, but accidentally hits the referee. At this point, Gallows and Anderson run down to the ring, and help beat Styles down. As the ref comes to, they run backstage, allowing Balor to hit a Coup de Grace, and pin Styles for the win.
“Too Sweet”
From there, Balor Club can reign as dominant champions over Smackdown Live. If they wanted to book it even further, they could have Styles win the Royal Rumble, allowing him to get his rematch at WrestleMania.

But the most important thing to do is remember that Balor is without a doubt a future main event start in WWE. But that can only be done if he is properly booked. Luckily, it looks like WWE has found the best way to book him. through Balor Club. And if they were to set up his next title reign this way, it would be without a doubt “too sweet.”
