NJPW The New Beginning in Sapporo Day 2 Preview

Michael Elgin & Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Suzuki-gun (Iizuka & Minoru Suzuki)

This match is the first big match on the card as Suzuki and Tanahashi face off against each other again here. We might see the feud between the two continue here. Regardless of who has won the match for the Intercontinental title, I do not think Suzuki and Tanahashi are done yet. I’m not sure how the Intercontinental title will factor into the plans NJPW has for Strong Style Evolved, but we’ll know more after this match (Editor’s Note: Suzuki is the new IWGP Intercontinental Champion).

KUSHIDA, David Finlay, & Kota Ibushi vs. The Bullet Club (Marty Scrull, Hangman Page, & Cody)

We will likely see the story between Ibushi and Cody continue here. We might even see Kenny stop Cody from beating up Ibushi again, furthering the divide between Cody and Kenny. The direction this is going to go is very interesting. The storyline that will end with Ibushi vs. Omega could very well be advanced here as well. NJPW has a lot of intriguing stories with those two.

I’ll also be looking to see other developments with the secondary players in this match. Scrull and KUSHIDA would be a very interesting feud. I’m also looking for Hangman Page to start advancing up the card. Even David Finlay might start moving up, as he hasn’t gone on excursion.
