With thirty men entering the 2018 Royal Rumble match there’s going to be an awful lot of allegiances, rivalries and conflict setting foot inside the same wrestling ring, which means we’re likely to see our fair share of surprising events take place during the match.

There’s already a ton of mystery and intrigue surrounding the men’s Royal Rumble match as the WWE has yet to reveal who 13 of the competitors for the match will be. This means that the WWE Universe is already going to be surprised (pleasantly or otherwise) a minimum of thirteen times.

But in a Royal Rumble match there’s so much more scope for surprises than just who will be in the match. In every Rumble match there’s a ton of speculation regarding how Superstars will be eliminated, who will eliminate them and who will work together, and these surprises are usually almost always better when they go against expectations.

So without further ado, based on who we know is in the match so far, the assumptions we can make about what else will happen during the match and just some plain old gut feeling. Here are five possible “swerves” that could happen in the WWE Men’s Royal Rumble Match.

#5. – Jason Jordan will eliminate Seth Rollins

Jason Jordan is embodying his current whiny entitled unlikable character so well at the moment that he is truly on his way to becoming a top heel within the company and the Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View event seems like as good a place as any to really double-down and cement Jordan someone for the fans to boo.

First of all, you can have him cost himself and Seth Rollins the RAW Tag-Team Titles in their match earlier on in the night against Sheamus and Cesaro, otherwise known as The Bar. It could be accidental, or he could do it deliberately as ‘revenge’ for Rollins accidentally hitting him on the RAW 25th Anniversary show.

Then you can have beg his dad Kurt Angle to let him and Rollins into the Royal Rumble match to give them ‘another’ chance, playing up the spoiled entitled child of authority figure angle to the max in the process.

And finally you can have Jason Jordan and Seth Rollins find themselves in the Rumble match at the same time, with Jason Jordan actually eliminating his former short-lived tag-team partner and popular Superstar Rollins to draw huge levels of heat.

If you really, really wanted to get Jordan over as just the worst. You could play on the fact that the WWE Universe might be expecting Daniel Bryan to appear and wait until the 30th spot only to have Jason Jordan come out as the last entrant, disappointing everyone.
