Now is the time to enjoy more wrestling across the internet

The Internet has created the opportunity to enjoy more wrestling content on both paid and free platforms.

There isn’t any point in trying to debate whether or not the World Wrestling Entertainment is the biggest stage in the land for professional wrestling. Vince McMahon and company have solidified the WWE as the top of the food chain in the industry. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the only organization that puts on quality content for wrestling fans. In fact, that’s far from the truth as there’s a wealth of content available both for free and behind pay walls that fans should find a way to enjoy.

Today’s digital space has created a prime harvest for hardcore professional wrestling fans. Of course there’s the WWE Network; the subscription service that features content that is more dated than some of its viewers. While this is a massive library of content that’s important not only for entertainment but historical value, that’s not the only chapter in the book of online wrestling viewership today.

First and foremost, there’s the FiteTV app. This application brings wrestling fans a wide range of free and paid content from some of the best promotions both within the United States and beyond. For example, there are episodes of Ring of Honor, All Japan Pro Wrestling, Evolve and other organizations ready for consumption. These are the organizations where many of the fan favorites within the WWE have come from, but they also feature talent that you may never see in that organization such as Keith Lee, Matt Riddle and others.

The High Spots Wrestling Network is another outlet with the independent wrestling fan in mind. For $9.99 this platform brings viewers content from Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, Combat Zone Wrestling, and more including documentaries on many names that built themselves across the smaller markets. If you’re looking for background information on the likes of Kevin Owens, Ricochet and more, this subscription service has just about everything that you could wish for.

Then there’s always YouTube. What started as a simple video service has now become an outlet for full blown productions. Professional wrestling has taken advantage of the availability of YouTube and groups like Defiant Wrestling (also known as WCPW). Defiant’s catalog of events not only features great matches like the contest between Kurt Angle and Cody Rhodes or Kushida versus Will Ospreay, but there’s a full wealth of matches that could capture a viewer’s attention for hours at a time. All for free through YouTube.

NWL is another promotion that’s benefiting from the exposure that’s coming from YouTube. While much smaller than the other organizations mentioned; NWL has a true grassroots feel to it from its in-ring action to character development.

The digital space has created a marketplace where wrestling fans can consume vast amounts of their passion. Leveraging the platforms that are behind pay walls and those that are not truly opens up viewers to content that is different and sometimes better than what’s presented by the WWE. For some, the WWE is only promotion worth watching in the industry. But for those that are hip to the wrestling going on around the world, the availability of more content across the Internet makes it much easier to appreciate great wrestling.
