When WWE hypes up an event prior to it hitting airwaves, most of the WWE Universe is skeptical that the outcome will reach levels that the company promises. This was generally the case for the 2018 WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, which boasted the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match.
While plenty of viewers on social media and in news outlets complained that the outcomes of the Rumble matches were too predictable, and that the other matches proved to be just filler, the significance of the night wasn’t lost on anyone who was paying attention.
One could feel the electricity and awe for the moment that was to come, the moment when women finally got another chance to prove they, too, could be superstars.
