Ronda Rousey is a horrible liar

To the surprise of no one, Rousey entered the arena last night, amidst the rumors that she would be returning to WWE for a path to WrestleMania.

Though she tried to debunk the rumors that she was showing up by stating she was in Columbia for a movie shoot, no one truly believed she wouldn’t be in attendance. Viewers were surprised when she showed up after the match, however, and not during.

With a lot of awkward point and a mute-like stroll around the ring, Rousey made her intentions clear, that she was looking forward–to fighting someone at WrestleMania.

Rousey pulled a few confusing moves, that everyone is still dissecting the day after. First, she tried to shake Asuka’s hand it what could have been a sign of friendship, or a sign of a fight to come. Asuka didn’t buy it either way, and slapped her hand out-of-the-way.

Second, Rousey approached Stephanie McMahon, a feud that has been on the back burner for the last few years, and also tried to shake her hand, confusingly. Stephanie, though, took the bait and shook her hand.

No fight ensued between Rousey and anyone, but shortly after the Rumble, it was officially announced that Rousey signed a full-time contract with WWE, with the intentions of placing her on the main roster right before WrestleMania.

The star power grab is not new to WWE, so her contract came as a surprise to no one. However, the decision to let Rousey ruin and upstage the moment for the first ever women’s Royal Rumble match winner was an unpleasant surprise. Fans and writers alike were disappointed in the decision by WWE to once again try to trump history in the making with a more exciting turn of events. Can’t we just let history be calm and heartwarming?

It’s important to note that Asuka had not immediately picked which title she would fight for at WrestleMania, a point that WWE will surely rehash in the upcoming weeks on both Raw and SmackDown.
