THE COMPOUNDS

Of course, we’re all eventually expecting a flamboyant Final Deletion-type event to make the Great War really special. The battlefield for this great fight, however, cannot be contained in a mundane wrestling ring. Egads! What manner of normalcy would that be?

But if this great war is to explode outside of the ring, it is important that the audience is introduced to the location of the fight. One of the reasons that wrestling works so well is because of how familiar we are with wrestling rings, its accouterments, and various rules of engagement. The audience inherently understands the environment, so it’s part of the tale to make the most out of what it has to offer.

For instance, during the Impact days, we were introduced to the sprawling expanse of the Hardy Compound. The acres of land, the in-house gym, the Lake of Rebirth… we got to know the lay of the area quite well, and most of these areas were exploited during the taped free-for-alls. These locations need re-introduction, considering there is a substantial amount of the WWE Universe who is unfamiliar with it.

We’ve heard about (and seen) the Wyatt Compound in the past. But it was burned down by Randy Orton last year. It would make perfect sense for Bray to have set up shop somewhere else. Maybe he found another farm with a creepy old barn. Maybe that barn hides a nuclear-era fallout shelter under it, and a big one at that. Perhaps it’s made up of twisting hallways, concrete walls, and greenish neon tube lights. Then, at the end of one of the hallways, there is a crack in the wall that leads into a darkened cave system where some of Wyatt’s more occult dealings occur…

By revealing these areas and breathing life into them, the over-the-top taped battles that are destined to take part there will be easier to get into.
