Kurt Angle With Some Breaking News
In a classic case of WWE burying the lede, Kurt Angle is in the ring to announce a medical update for his son, Jason Jordan. Before getting down to business, Angle casually drops that Ronda Rousey will be at Elimination Chamber to sign her Raw contract. No big, you know.
BUT THE REAL NEWS IS ABOUT JASON JORDAN, SO FORGET ALL THAT.
Angle drops the news that Jordan is out with a neck injury – he’s already had surgery, and will miss WrestleMania. After the crowd cheers, Kurt goes full “I’m Not Mad, I’m Disappointed” mode on the crowd. It’s actually pretty sweet – it seemed heartfelt, and it was a perfect thing for him to say. Put yourself in Angle’s shoes, listening to thousands of people cheering your son’s career-threatening injury. Pretty crappy, right?
Before too much of that happens, though, Seth F. Rollins comes down to the ring. He feels bad that Jordan will miss WrestleMania, but doesn’t want that to mean Rollins misses out on WrestleMania. Seth wants to be the face of Raw once again – he wants the Universal Championship, he wants Brock Lesnar, and he wants it at WrestleMania.
Because Rollins apparently pays attention to the show, he knows he needs to win the Elimination Chamber to do that. Rather than push his way into the match, Rollins asks Angle for a chance to earn his way in. That’s pretty good character development for Seth, right? He wants to finally do things the right way.
After some hemming and hawing by Angle – “oh, it wouldn’t be fair to the other four superstars” – Rollins is added to the second chance qualifier. Now a fatal five way, Rollins gets his wish without holding people hostage, or hijacking shows, or burning things down. Good for him!
