4. Kevin Owens And Sami Zayn Attack Dolph Ziggler And Baron Corbin

The only anticipated match leading into last night’s SmackDown that had any hype around it was Dolph Ziggler’s return to Tuesday nights to battle Baron Corbin.  But quickly, the WWE universe would find out that match wouldn’t see the light of day.

Ziggler and Corbin were set to battle to open up last night’s show with the winner advancing to Fastlane to make the WWE Championship match a Fatal 4-Way.  Ziggler made his entrance and awaited the arrival of Corbin, but as Corbin didn’t make his way to the ring, the cameras showed that he was being attacked backstage by Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn.

Owens and Zayn wanted to limit the amount of challengers in the match at Fastlane and would soon turn their attention towards The Showoff.  They came to the ringside area and would gang up on Ziggler before laying him out too.  However, their actions would cause more harm than good as the night progressed.

As we found out, Owens and Zayn would pay for their actions with matches later in the night.  But as far as this segment goes, it was pretty good.  It wasn’t great by no means, but it did provide a surprising twist to what fans expected to see last night.  It was also pretty solid in developing the storyline between Owens and Zayn and commissioner Shane McMahon.

KO and Zayn are great heels, and they proved how far they are willing to go to get what they want by opening up last night’s show.

Final Grade: B-
