Eli Drake Tries to Win the Global Championship Back
Two weeks ago, Eli Drake was holding a celebration of his Impact Global Championship. He mentioned that he was the Greatest Man that Ever Lived and of course cue Austin Aries’ return. In one night, Aries both returned to Impact and dethroned the Global Champion. Now it comes down to tonight’s main event where Eli Drake looks to prove that Aries’ victory was a fluke.
The quickness of Austin Aries is hurting Eli Drake early in this match. Drake needs a timeout early in this one as Aries is firmly in control. The arrogance of Drake got him in trouble early as it seems that he is facing a more focused Austin Aries. Aries seems to be better than ever after taking a hiatus from Impact Wrestling. Drake has done his homework though and everyone knows he has a chip on is shoulder.

Eli Drake has a been in the ring with a lot of men but no one quite like Austin Aries. Even Johnny Impact is much bigger than Aries but that may be the best comparison. Drake is using moves he never has like a springboard moonsault just to get the Global Championship back. It’s one that had to take its toll considering he couldn’t hit it. Drake uses his athleticism as he hops to the top turnbuckle like Kurt Angle and throws Aries over. Aries regains control but a dive on Chris Adonis gives Drake another chance. Drake dumps Aries on the apron in the must crucial part of this match. The two showed off their entire set of skills but it was once again the brainbuster of Austin Aries that retains him the championship.
