The US Title Situation
Jinder Mahal says that he has a big “discovery” about Bobby Roode, and he draws this out awkwardly, making strange pauses along the way.
He then unveiled Roode’s SmackDown Top 10 List, noting that Roode voted for himself at No. 1…and left Randy Orton off the list. Mahal says that the “Rude Awakening” is that Roode is a “glorious egomaniac” and an “inglorious liar”.
Roode comes out and sees right through Mahal’s schtick. He says that Mahal is trying to put Orton and Roode against each other so he can have a clearer path to the United States Championship for himself.
Mahal has this twisted obsession with trying to get Roode to admit that he thinks he’s better than Orton and fancies himself as the next “Legend Killer”.
Roode gets fed up and tells Mahal to forget about Roode. He stares Mahal right in the eye and says, “This is about you and me.”
So obviously this is the exact time Orton decides to come out.
Orton and Roode both take out Mahal, but Orton tries to go for the RKO when The Glorious One’s back is turned. But this time, he counters the RKO and smashes him with the Glorious DDT.
Just as Roode is standing tall, talking some smack at Orton, and enjoying his music, Mahal hits Roode with the Khallas.
Daniel Bryan tells Shane McMahon that he wants Roode to defend the United States Championship against Jinder Mahal, since Mahal has stood tall in back-to-back weeks in the ring with Roode. Shane counters that Orton was the one who accepted the open challenge first, so the opportunity should go to him again.
The two bicker further, with Bryan showing some serious sass.
Remember that Bryan keeps trying to give title chances to heels like Mahal for rather stupid reasons. So, uh, yeah, something is going on here.
Grade: D, This segment served no purpose, advanced no storylines except maybe Bryan vs. Shane, and was so poorly written that my eyes and ears are both bleeding. There were so many awkward pauses, and the insults were laughably amateur.
