Well, that was quick. I’m glad that, at least on Raw on a weekly basis, there’s actually multiple storylines running concurrently in the women’s division. But can’t we spread them out throughout the show a little? There’s no one left in the division besides Absolution and Ronda Rousey – doubtful they would cross paths, so I’m guessing no Deville or Rose on the show tonight.
But speaking of the concurrent storylines, the hard tag from Banks to Bayley shows that while they may have made up, Sasha is still embracing the antagonistic side of her persona. The Boss was in charge for a while – until Nia ran through her with a nasty shoulder tackle on the outside of the ring. Gotta love the fan yelling, “WHY ARE YOU SUCH A BAD FRIEND” to Sasha while she was out.
Speaking of Nia, I like this whole “Irresistible Force” nickname WWE is using for her now. It’s a clever play on words – not only is she the irresistible force in terms of power, they’re playing up her natural beauty that she’s impossible to resist. I mean, I’m pretty sure that’s intentional, but you never know with WWE. Could just be a happy accident, or me reading into things too much.
After a cheap shot to Asuka left her unable to accept a tag, Sasha went to finally tag out – but Bayley dropped off the apron and refused to tag. Wow. She had to respond somehow to Sasha literally following the rules of the non-team matches they’ve competed in at the past two pay per views.
I’m more okay with the decision to have Bayley act totally and completely out of character because she did return to the match – to save Asuka. She wasn’t bailing on the match, just Sasha. What’s good for the goose is good for the, uh, other goose.
Asuka picked up the win via submission over a likely concussed Mickie James (JOSHIMANIA RUNNING WILD), combining a kneebar and an armbar because why not? Oh, and we still haven’t actually heard whether Asuka is facing Alexa Bliss or not – we’re just being told that’s what’s happening. Maybe let Asuka say that?
