#4 – Their Prior Matches Were Excellent

Eventually, the NXT animosity between Bryan and Miz spilled over onto the WWE main roster. The two superstars had their first encounter at Night of Champions 2010. After a thrilling, back-and-forth match, Bryan tapped out Miz to capture the U.S. Title. It was his first championship in WWE, but certainly not his last.

The next month at Hell in a Cell, Miz and Bryan were two thirds of a Triple Threat Submissions Count Anywhere Match. Like the month prior, the match was tremendous. Also like the month prior, the match ended with Miz tapping out to the Yes Lock.

The results of these was a pleasant surprise for Bryan fans, as during this time The Miz was being groomed for the main event. In fact, just one month after the triple threat Miz captured the WWE Title, and went on to headline WrestleMania.

Now, almost a decade later, The Miz’s in-ring skills have grown tremendously. His growth as a wrestler has coincided with his elevation of the IC Title—a title he has held for the majority of the last two years. Every Miz match as of late is seemingly a guaranteed ***+ affair.  Accordingly, a match with Bryan in 2018 would be an all-time classic.
