WWE Fastlane 2018 Predictions: A Phenomenal Defense?

Kevin Owens vs Sami Zayn vs Baron Corbin vs Dolph Ziggler vs AJ Styles

If there’s one thing that’ certain about this match, it’s that AJ Styles is not going to be losing his title at this match. WWE knows just how much of a money match Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura is going to be at WrestleMania, and it doesn’t look like they’re going to mess it up.

Something that many fans have complained about lately on Smackdown Live is that there are too many multi-man matches. Not only that, but it hurts the WWE Championship, as well as Styles. The first one may be true, but that’s just WWE. The second argument though is actually the complete opposite.

By having Styles defend his title in so many multi-man matches, it makes him look stronger as a champion. Somehow, because of how phenomenal he is, he can pull through and win the match. Instead of hurting his credibility, it actually strengthens it. It makes him look better going into WrestleMania.

But that’s not the only point of this match. What it will also most likely do is set up other feuds for WrestleMania. For weeks, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been teetering back and forth as to whether or not they’re still friends. Fastlane could very well be the breaking point, setting up a WrestleMania match for these two.

As for Ziggler and Corbin, it’s really unclear what their purpose serves in the match. They could just be there to add bodies to the mix, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

There will undeniably be some great spots in the match. None of these five are slackers in the ring, so it will be fun to watch. But in the end, Styles will show us all just how phenomenal he really is.
