The time is right for these wrestlers to find their way back to the WWE.

In every professional career there comes a time when an individual may leave for other opportunities. This occurs within professional wrestling as well, as we’ve seen many athletes leave the WWE for various reasons. In looking at some of the men and women who’ve left the fold in recent years, these are five names that could return for either long or short term stints. Their inclusion could light a spark across creative and build to some intriguing storylines for old and young fans alike.

Surprise returns are an element to professional wrestling that makes the stories that much more intriguing. The Royal Rumble and the night after WrestleMania are known for surprise guests making a comeback to the promotion. As WrestleMania season rages on, these men and women coming back to the company helps inject some life into the group as a whole. During their first runs with the company, many of them reached championship status in one way or another. Bringing them back helps create legitimate matchups for many of the wrestlers currently on the roster; helping build their long-term credibility with viewers at the same time.

What is missing from the WWE today is a wealth of stars across all the brands. Breaking the shows up into the specific Smackdown and Raw roster eventually hurts the Tuesday night show. Bringing these individuals back creates an opportunity for additional flexibility which could positively impact not only these two shows, but NXT and 205 Live at the same time.

As stars such as Shinsuke Nakamura, AJ Styles, Finn Balor, Braun Strowman and others are placed in bouts against the same opponents each week, these returns help create some fresh matches that fans would enjoy. Some of these selections are a long shot, while others are closer than expected. Either way, these are five wrestlers that should return to the WWE to benefit not only themselves, but the fans viewing each week.
