John Morrison

When a wrestler leaves the WWE they are taking a major chance on the independent scene. Some flourish into bigger stars, while others flounder to find a strong footing. John Morrison has been widely successful in not only his professional career, but expanding his interests into other industries at the same time.

Since leaving the WWE in 2011, Morrison has continued to build his brand both in and outside of the squared circle. His touched based in major organizations on the independent scene such as PWG and Defiant Wrestling. But it was his time in Lucha Underground and eventually Impact Wrestling where he grew in his craft and built his character into a promotion-carrying star. His matches against the likes of Ricochet, Son of Havoc and others let the industry know that Morrison was invested in professional wrestling and wasn’t focused on becoming an action movie star.

Morrison could return to the WWE in a number of positions. While he may not immediately vault to the top of the card, he could find place in the upper-mid card first against the likes of Bobby Roode, The Miz, Rusev and others. Morrison is more known for the spectacular highlights that he gives the crowd and those abilities make him an interesting addition to the roster. He could even be repacked for the 205 Live show and placed against the top stars in that group before being moved over to the main roster. A returning Morrison has some flexibility in how he can be used in today’s WWE. After nearly 9 years away from the company, he would be a welcome return with a number of fresh matchups waiting.
