WWE: Neville And Four Other Wrestlers Who Should Return
Trish Stratus
Another surprise entrant at the Royal Rumble; Trish Stratus entered the women’s rumble at number 30 t a sea of cheers from fans. Widely considered one of, if not the best WWE women’s wrestler of all time, Stratus showed that she still looks the part and can go in the ring. Her last official match was nearly a decade ago but Stratus has stayed in shape. She’s 42-years old and a mother of two children, which would limit her availability for a full time run with the company.
But, what we saw during the women’s rumble is that Stratus has chemistry with many of the women on the current roster. She and Sasha Banks had quite the interaction before Banks eliminated the former champion. Stratus could come back to the WWE as a foil to someone such as Banks, but could easily be paired with the likes of Alexa Bliss or Charlotte as well. Each of these ladies is looking to supplant Stratus as the biggest women’s star created by the promotion and many believe they have the potential to do so. That sets up a storyline in which Stratus returns to put the younger wrestlers in their place. The best bet would be to have the younger wrestlers go over in the end, but seeing Stratus back on the screen for a short run would bring excitement to the women’s division.
Women’s wrestling has gone through an evolution and revolution in recent years. Yet, the women’s rumble showed that there’s still a place for a bit of nostalgia in this division. Bringing back the most prominent women’s champion of yester-year and inserting her into a storyline with those looking to become the best women’s wrestlers in the present and future almost writes itself while elevating what is already a great group of athletes.
