#3 – Money In The Bank Ladder Match – Wrestlemania XXIII

It was the longest Money in the Bank match to take place at WrestleMania. Featuring Edge, Randy Orton, and Booker T, Jeff Hardy, CM Punk and Mr. Kennedy (Kennedy), it had more star power than any other. But most importantly, it was one incredible opening contest.

WrestleMania XXIII was set to be an epic event. After three years of being held inside arenas, this was the WrestleMania return to a gigantic football stadium, namely Ford Field in Detroit. Additionally, the show was to feature a certain, future United States President in a hair vs hair contest with WWE Owner Vince McMahon. And as if that was not enough to make for a huge night, the two world title contests (HBK vs Cena, Undertaker vs Batista) were absolute dream matches.

With all of that in mind, it was vital for the 2007 WrestleMania to start off with a bang. This match made sure that happened. It was filled with breathtaking spots, including an RKO off the ladder delivered to CM Punk by Randy Orton, and a leapfrog legdrop by Jeff Hardy from the top of a ladder inside the ring, which put Edge through a ladder outside of the ring. After 25 minutes of heart-stopping action, Mr. Kennedy prevailed, unhooking the briefcase and winning the match.

While, unfortunately, Kennedy would be unable to successfully cash in his title shot (in fact, he lost the guaranteed opportunity to Edge), he got to be a part of one of the best openers in WrestleMania history.
