2. Paul Heyman Intensifies Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns Feud
One of the most criticized main event-caliber matches in WrestleMania history will take place in just a few weeks. The Universal Championship match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns is official, but that doesn’t make it appealing to a wide portion of the WWE universe.
Reigns is the most polarizing figure in pro wrestling today and Lesnar is gaining more hate from the WWE universe lately as well, so what can save this feud heading into WrestleMania? As it turns out, it’s not so much as a what as it is a who. And that who is the artist formerly known as Paul E. Dangerously.
Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman responded to Reigns’ strong words towards Lesnar the week before last night in a Heyman-like promo that seemed to intensify every second. Heyman seemingly put Reigns in his place and, at times, vilified Lesnar in the process to make him the clear heel of this feud. Reigns came out as well and continued taking shots at Lesnar as the show ended.
Heyman said Lesnar will respond to Reigns himself next week on Raw, but last night’s promo was important to the building of this match. This feud has taken a shoot-like approach up to this point and that should only continue in the weeks to come. And with Lesnar not being on many Raw’s, Heyman might need to step in and do more outstanding mic work as he did last night.
Paul E. has been a master of the mic for years, but last night’s mic work was especially important to the building of a key world title match at the biggest show of the year.
