#3) WrestleMania XXXII – Triple H vs Roman Reigns

In 2016 (and still today, quite frankly) WWE was struggling to make Roman Reigns their top babyface. At WrestleMania XXXII, the company booked Reigns to challenge Triple H for the world title in the main event, hopeful that the WWE veteran putting over the young star would finally be enough to make the fans buy in to Reigns.

Rather than a short, emphatic victory to establish Reigns’ dominance, or a brutal, vicious brawl to show his toughness, the agents, bookers, and Triple H, decided that the best way to lay out this match, in order to help Roman connect with the fans, was to have Triple H work on his arm for 30 minutes. This match moved so very slowly that, by comparison, it made late-’90s WCW main events seem like cruiserweight matches.

This author attended WrestleMania XXXII, and can personally attest to the strong apathy the crowd showed this match. The fans did manage to summon the motivation to start some chants during the contest…for Bayley, Nakamura, and Sami Zayn.

The only part of the bout that woke the crowd up was when, during the late stages, Roman inadvertently speared Stephanie McMahon. One high spot does not make up for a half hour of agonizing boredom however, and as such, the biggest WrestleMania of all time can be said to have perhaps the worst WrestleMania main event of all time.
