We came up with a list of the top five matches from WWE Fastlane history. Check to see if your favorite matches from the PPV made the cut.

WWE Fastlane 2018 is in the bags and just behind us. The PPV did a fair job compared to its predecessors. The event first started in 2015 with little spark. The inaugural event saw Sting challenge Triple H to a match at that year’s WrestleMania. The main event however, was a match between Roman Reigns and Daniel Bryan, a match that has more historical implications than most others.

Last night was only the fourth edition of the PPV. As such, it is still a very young PPV and doesn’t boast a large number of matches that makes it hard to pick the top five matches. However, I have to be honest with myself here when I say it did take me a while to complete this list. The good matches from Fastlane throughout the years have all been really good. As such, picking just five top matches was hard to say the least.

Honorable mentions

Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman (Fastlane 2017)

This was a coming out party for Braun Strowman. The Monster Among Men had already made a name for himself among the fans, thanks to his squash matches. He had also taken part in a few notable rivalries including a series of matches against Sami Zayn. Strowman thrived as a monster heel. However, he was yet to deliver that one lengthy standout performance. We all knew he was the next best thing. But we were all yet to witness it.

This match was what we needed. As history has shown time and again, Reigns has a knack of putting on good matches against big men. His matches with the veteran Big Show were much good compared to how terrible some of Show’s matches at the time were. Throw in someone as agile as Strowman in the mix and you had an explosive mix. The two men traded blows and destroyed tables. Big spots ruled the day and finally an errant splash from Strowman (yeah you read it right) enabled Reigns to pick up the win and award Strowman his first lost by pinfall.

AJ Styles vs. Chris Jericho (Fastlane 2016)

This was the third time these two men would face each other. Styles defeated Y2J in his debut night on Raw and Jericho returned the favor by defeating Styles at SmackDown. This was the rubber match. When the match came to a conclusion, Styles had Jericho tapping out to the calf crusher.

The match was good but did not possess the fluidity or electricity these two men are generally capable of. However, the biggest takeaway from this match was the birth of the short but sweet Y2AJ tag team that eventually lead to their WrestleMania match.

That just about covers our honorable mentions. Now let’s get to business and decide the best of the best that Fastlane has had to offer us.
